To supersede the requirements stated in Sentence 9.8.7.1.(1), which would otherwise require 2 handrails, in situations where the risk of falling is reduced because occupants are likely to be familiar with their surroundings and the risk of injury due to falls is reduced because the vertical fall distance is limited.
