To exempt penetrations made by sprinklers through rated assemblies from the requirements of Sentence 9.10.9.6.(1), which would otherwise require the penetration to be tightly fitted or fire stopped, if certain conditions are met, on the basis that the application of the fire stop material may render the sprinklers ineffective.
