To modify the application of Sentence 9.23.13.5.(1) and allow one exterior wall of the uppermost storey in each orthogonal direction to be set back from the exterior wall of the storey below where the exterior walls perpendicular to an exterior uppermost storey wall that is set back are reinforced to be sufficiently strong to transfer the forces to the lateral force resisting system.
