Intent 1:
To limit the probability that defects or openings
in chimneys, flues or flue pipes will lead to:
- heat from normal operation or from a fire in the chimneys,
flues and flue pipes igniting nearby combustible materials, which
could lead to a fire or the spread of fire, or
- failure, which could lead to the spread of fire or smoke
from chimneys, flues or flue pipes to other parts of the building.
This is to limit the probability of
damage to the building.
