Intent 1:
To override the prohibition for ignition sources
in Sentence 4.1.5.2.(1) and the requirement for electrical
equipment in Sentences 4.1.4.1.(1) and 5.5.3.4.(1) if:
- the ignition source is necessary for the conduct of
laboratory operations [i.e. is an integral part of them], and
- measures are taken to limit the probability that the
ignition source will lead to an uncontrolled fire and spread beyond
the point of origin, which could lead to harm to persons.
Intent 2:
To state the application of Article 5.5.4.2., with respect to the exhausting of flammable vapours and combustion
fumes.
