Application
Application 1: 
Thermal barrier protection for interior surfaces of exterior non-loadbearing wall assemblies that include combustible components, in buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A that are required to be of noncombustible construction, and where:
  • the building is not more than 3 storeys in building height, or is sprinklered throughout, and
  • the wall assembly satisfies the criteria of Sentences 3.1.5.5.(2) and (3) when subjected to testing in conformance with CAN/ULC-S134, “Standard Method of Fire Test of Exterior Wall Assemblies.”
Exceptions: 
except for an exposing building face required to conform to Sentence 3.2.3.7.(1) or Sentence 3.2.3.7.(4).
Application 2: 
This also applies to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9] required to be of noncombustible construction, as stated in Sentence 9.10.6.1.(1).
