Application
Application 1: 
Fire-retardant treated wood roof system in a storey in which more than 10% of the area is classified as a Group F, Division 3 major occupancy. This applies in buildings that are not more than 1 storey in building height and whose building area is not more than:
  • 2 400 m2 if facing one street,
  • 3 000 m2 if facing 2 streets, or
  • 3 600 m2 if facing 3 streets.
This applies to buildings to which Part 3 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A for application of Part 3].
Exceptions: 
except:
  • a storey in which more than 10% of the area is classified as a Group F, Division 3 major occupancy but the building complies with the conditions of Articles 3.2.2.77., 3.2.2.78., 3.2.2.79., 3.2.2.80., 3.2.2.81., 3.2.2.82. or 3.2.2.83.,
  • a storey in which more than 10% of the area is classified as a Group F, Division 3 major occupancy but in addition has more than 10% of the area classified as a major occupancy that has more stringent requirements in accordance with Articles 3.2.2.20. to 3.2.2.75. and 3.2.2.77. to 3.2.2.83., and
  • a storey in which more than 10% of the area is classified as a Group F, Division 3 major occupancy but also has a portion of its floor area used for a Group F, Division 1 or 2 occupancy.

Intent
Intent 1: 
To exclude a fire-retardant treated wood roof system from the fire-resistance rating requirements on the basis that the building is restricted to one storey in building height, the system conforms to Article 3.1.14.1., and the building area is restricted in size.
