Minimum fire-resistance rating of the exterior wall of each fire compartment referred to in Sentence 3.2.3.14.(1) within the distance, Do, where:
This applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A where:
  • as stated in the latter part of Sentence 3.2.3.14.(3), unprotected openings of fire compartments are on opposite sides of a firewall, and
  • external walls of two buildings meet at a firewall at an angle of less than 135°, as stated in Sentence 3.1.10.6.(1), which also applies to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9], as stated in Sentence 9.10.11.3.(1).

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that fire compartment exterior walls will have insufficient fire resistance, which could lead to the spread of fire from one fire compartment to a fire compartment in an adjacent building, which could lead to damage to adjacent buildings.
