Application | Application 1: Impermeability, smoothness of surface and resistance
to corrosion of the construction materials for linen chutes and refuse chutes,
in buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A. Application 2: This also applies to chutes and shafts in buildings to
which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application
of Part 9], as stated in Sentence 9.10.1.2.(7), except where the chute
or shaft is entirely contained within a dwelling unit.

lodged in the chute, which could lead to bacteria growth, insect infestation
or foul odours, which could lead to unsanitary conditions, which could lead
to harm to persons. Intent 3: To limit the probability that linen chutes or refuse chutes
will excessively corrode or deteriorate, which could lead to their premature
structural failure, which could lead to linen or refuse being lodged in the
chute or falling out of the chute, which could lead to bacteria growth, insect
