Application 1: 
Connections and supports for structural framing members that are connected to or supported on a firewall and have a fire-resistance rating less than that required for the firewall.
Exceptions: 
except as provided in Sentence 3.1.10.1.(2) where the firewall consists of two separate wall assemblies.
This applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A, and to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9] as stated in Sentence 9.10.11.3.(1).

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that the collapse of a structural framing member attached to or supported on the firewall will lead to failure of the firewall, which could lead to the spread of fire from an adjacent building to the building, which could lead to damage to the building.
