Temperatures of soil beneath buildings where the foundation is supported on soil that is susceptible to frost, in buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9] that contain a single dwelling unit that is provided with a sub-floor depressurization system for an interior floor-on-ground.

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that moisture in the soil beneath floors-on-ground will freeze, which could lead to the displacement of the soil, which could lead to compromised structural integrity of the foundation or of elements supported or protected by the foundation.
This is to limit the probability of:
  • structural failure, or
  • the ingress of moisture from the ground, which could lead to deterioration, which could lead to compromised structural integrity.
This is to limit the probability of harm to persons.
