Intent 1:
To exempt corridor separations from the application
of Sentence 3.3.2.6.(1) by waiving the requirement for a fire-resistance
rating on the basis that the floor area is sprinklered throughout.
This is to limit the probability that a fire will not be
controlled or suppressed, which could lead to the spread of fire into
the corridor, or from the corridor to another part of the building,
which could lead to:
- delays in the evacuation or movement of persons to a
safe place, which could lead to harm to persons, and
- fire emergency response operations being delayed or
ineffective, which could lead to:
- delays in the evacuation or movement of persons to a
safe place, which could lead to harm to persons, including emergency
responders, and
- the spread of fire to other parts of the building, which
could lead to harm to persons.
