Intent 1:

To limit the probability that the design of the connection between buildings will not take into account the behaviour of the connected buildings as a whole, which could lead to the structural failure of the connection, which could lead to the impact of adjacent structures, which could lead:

• structural failure, or
• severe damage to non-structural elements, which could lead to their subsequently falling.

This is to limit the probability of harm to persons.
