Intent 1:

To supersede the requirements of Sentence 3.2.3.1.(1) and permit an increase [doubling] in the area of unprotected openings, if certain conditions are met [openings glazed with certain types of assemblies].

This [the conditions] is to limit the probability of the spread of fire from the subject building to an adjacent building, which could lead to damage to the adjacent building.

Intent 2:

To direct Code users to Article 3.1.8.16. and Article D-2.3.15. in Appendix B for requirements pertaining to glass block and wired glass assemblies.
