Intent 1:
To limit the probability that fire will spread from
a service room containing a generator to other parts of the building,
which could lead to harm to persons in the other parts of the building.
Intent 2:
To limit the probability that a fire originating
in a location outside a service room containing a generator will spread
into the service room, which could lead to the disruption and discontinuation
of service from equipment located in the service room, which could
lead to an undue fire hazard in the building, which could lead to
harm to persons.
Intent 3:
To limit the probability that the generator will
prematurely fail when exposed to fire, which could lead to fire alarm
systems, sprinkler systems and other emergency equipment not operating
properly in the fire situation, which could lead to:
- fire emergency response operations being delayed or
ineffective, which could lead to:
- delays in the evacuation or movement of persons to a
safe place, which could lead to harm to persons, and
- the spread of fire to other parts of the building, which
could lead to harm to persons,
- persons not being promptly notified of the fire situation,
which could lead to delays in the evacuation or movement of persons
to a safe place, which could lead to harm to persons, and
- the buildup of smoke in exit stairs or floor areas,
which could lead to:
- delays or inefficiencies in fire suppression operations,
which could lead to the spread of fire, which could lead to harm to
persons, including emergency responders, and
- delays in the evacuation or movement of persons to a
safe place, which could lead to harm to persons.
