Intent 1:
To limit the probability that the calculation of
net wind load on a building will not take into account how windward
and leeward pressures or suctions on building surfaces act to produce
forces in the building structure, which could lead to:
- the excessive deformation of, or excessive stress in,
structural elements, which could lead to damage to the building, or
- the excessive deflection of structural elements, which
could impede the intended use and occupancy of the building.
