To limit the probability that fire will spread from a fire compartment, dwelling unit, ancillary space or common space in a house containing a secondary suite through unprotected openings in exterior building walls to an exterior exit stair or ramp, which could lead to delays in the evacuation or movement of persons to a safe place, which could lead to harm to persons.
To expand the application of Articles 9.10.13.5. and 9.10.13.7. to include wired glass and glass blocks in unprotected openings in exterior walls under certain conditions.
