To limit the probability of:
- combustible coverings and linings of ducts, adhesives
and insulation being exposed to elevated temperatures, which could
lead to fire, or
- combustible material that has ignited contributing to
the spread of fire from one fire compartment to another.
This is to limit the probability of
damage to the building.
