To limit the probability that, in an emergency, an inadequate height in the path of access to, or egress from, the room will lead to collision with protrusions from ceilings, such as lighting fixtures, ceiling fans and low door heads, which could lead to delays in the evacuation or movement of persons to a safe place, which could lead to harm to persons.
