Intent 1:
To limit the probability that:
- the performance of bituminous dampproofing materials
will fall significantly below expectations with respect to moisture
transfer resistance, or
- the performance of polyethylene used as dampproofing
will fall significantly below expectations with respect to
- moisture transfer resistance, or
- strength, flexibility, and resistance to tearing, puncturing,
oxidation or ultraviolet radiation, which could lead to damage during
installation.
This is to limit the probability of an inadequate resistance
to moisture transfer from the ground, which could lead to the ingress
of moisture from the ground, which could lead to deterioration, which
could lead to compromised structural integrity of elements supported
or protected by foundation walls or floors, which could lead to harm
to persons.
