Intent 1:

To limit the probability of using inadequate design procedures for environmental separation elements that are subject to structural loads, which could lead to insufficient capacity and integrity of such elements to resist or accommodate such loads, which could lead to:

• deflection, or
• damage and deterioration.

This is to limit the probability of structural failure, which could lead to harm to persons.
