Intent 1:
To limit the probability:
- that the thermal performance of materials and components
will fall significantly below expectations, which could lead to the
inadequate control of heat transfer through environmental separators
under expected environmental loads, and
- with respect to CAN/ULC-S703, that metallic components
of environmental separators will be corroded by chemicals in the cellulose.
Where required life safety systems are incorporated in environmental
separators, this is to limit the probability of compromised operation
of temperature-sensitive or moisture-sensitive life safety systems,
which could lead to harm to persons.
