Intent 1:

To limit the probability that exhaust ducts will have inadequate thermal resistance, which could lead to the excessive cooling of exhaust ducts, which could lead to the freezing of water vapour that condenses on the interior surface of exhaust ducts, which could lead to:

• the blockage of ducts by ice buildup when temperatures are below the freezing point, which could lead to inadequate ventilation, or
• the growth of mould and mildew in ducts.

This is to limit the probability of negative effects on the air quality of indoor spaces, which could lead to harm to persons.
