Intent

Intent 1:

To limit the probability that a fire in the grease ducts for commercial cooking operations will spread outside the grease duct enclosures, which could lead to the spread of fire to occupied parts of the building, which could lead to harm to persons.

Intent 2:

To limit the application of NFPA 96, “Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations” when grease duct enclosures are tested in conformance with Canadian standards.
