Intent 1:

To limit the probability that the calculation method will not account for

• the effects of temperature difference and transmission of solar radiation on heat transfer through fenestration separating conditioned spaces from the outdoors, or
• orientation, rough opening area, glazed area, solar heat gain coefficient and overall U-value of fenestration separating conditioned spaces from the outdoors.

This is to limit the probability of inaccuracy of the model, which could lead to overestimation of the energy used by the reference building or underestimation of the energy used by the proposed building, which could lead to excessive use of energy, which could lead to an unacceptable effect on the environment.
